Balmoral Castle & Royal Deeside

From St Andrews we cross the River Tay to the City of Dundee then journey northwards into the scenic southern Highlands, part of the Cairgorms National Park. We climb over the Cairn o’ Mount mountain pass and stop at the viewpoint for stunning panoramic views. Then on through the picturesque towns of Banchory, Aboyne and Ballater all having strong links with the Royal Family whose family home - Balmoral Castle - is our destination. Balmoral has been the Scottish home of the Royal Family since 1848 during the reign of Queen Victoria. Since then it has passed down successive generations to the present day Family. The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh and Prince Charles especially take a close interest in running and improving the Balmoral Estates. We return through Braemar, the highland pass of Glenshee, Blairgowrie and Dundee.
